Party Stories: Party on a Budget

How I Planned an Awesome Birthday Party on a Budget at Triple Play

As a mom, I love celebrating my kids’ birthdays, but let’s be real: parties can get expensive fast. Between food, decorations, activities, and all the “little things” that add up, I was determined to keep this year’s celebration fun and affordable.

That’s when I discovered that Triple Play Family Fun Park has a birthday party table reservation option that’s perfect for families like ours who want a great party without going overboard.

To preface, my daughter was turning 6. Her brother was attending and we invited four of our daughter’s closest friends and asked their parents to let us know whether they intended to drop their child off or stay through the party. This information is very important when planning parties at family entertainment facilities that have party space capacity.

The One-Hour Table Made It So Easy

Instead of booking a huge package, I reserved a party table for up to 12 people (that includes kids and adults) for an hour. It was exactly what we needed!

We started with pizza and drinks. The reservation included two large pizzas and 2 pitchers of soda, which was perfect for six kids and their parents (if you have older kids, I would recommend adding a third pizza). After pizza, we moved on to presents and dessert. I loved that we were allowed to bring in our own dessert (and it didn’t have to be cake). My daughter wanted cookies and brownies this year, and Triple Play was totally fine with that.

(Important note for other parents: the only way you can bring in cake or presents is if you book a party table, so don’t skip that step!)

When the table time ended, we brought all the presents to our car and Triple Play was able to store our leftover dessert while we played.

We Added Just the Right Amount of Play

Triple Play makes it super easy to customize your fun! Since we were on a budget, we looked at 2 options when booking:

  • Give each kid $20 for the arcade.
    • Triple Play birthday parties include a deal that lets you purchase $40 of arcade play for only $32.50 (and that can be split in $5 increments).
  • Let my daughter pick three attractions to play with her friends, one time each.
    • Triple Play birthday parties can purchase a “Pick 3 Attraction” pass for $24.99 +tax each.

We ended up going with the Pick 3, and it was perfect!  The kids raced go-karts, played laser tag, and ended with outdoor mini golf. Since the kids were all too short to drive, their parents were allowed to drive the karts without needing an extra pass (just one pass is required per kart).

In the end, we spent less than $370 for a party space, food, drinks, place-settings, and activities. PLUS we didn’t have to set up or clean up. This whole party lasted around 2 and half hours, which was perfect for the kids AND their parents.

Why I’ll Do It Again

What I loved most was how flexible it was. I didn’t have to pay for a big package or add-ons we wouldn’t use. I got to decide exactly what fit our budget, and Triple Play made it feel like a real party, not a “budget” one.

If you’re looking for a fun, affordable way to celebrate your kid’s birthday (or even an adult one!), I can’t recommend this enough.

Trust me, it’s possible to throw a party your kids will love and keep your wallet happy.
